Becoming a Instructor

You would apply using our application form (see further on in this section). To become a Professional Association of Boating Instructors Ltd. Instructor, you need to be an Instructor or Teacher in some area. We only take trained Teachers or Instructors, so we can run a short and efficient Instructor course.

The Instructor Course is a two-day course.

Day 1 is the basic Canadian Coast Guard Accredited Boat Operator Course. This runs from 9:00 - 4:00 and includes the writing of the test for your permanent Boat Operator Card. This first day is open to the public who only wish to take this part. During this day the Instructor would obtain their Boat Operator Card, and also observe a class, to see how a basic course is taught. All materials for the Basic Boat Operator course are provided.

Day 2 is for Instructors only. Here we would go through the Instructor Manual to make sure of 100% understanding of materials. We would also go over teaching points to ensure other methods of getting the information across to the students. All versions of the tests are reviewed to ensure understanding of the intent of the test questions. Paper work and procedures would also be reviewed at this time. We supply everything you need to get set up and started. (See supply list further in this section.)
